I'm having troubles with the Rival, I think it is because it is the Smart-Pot line. My wife wants a slow cooker that has a top that clamps on for travel which the Hamilton Beach does? Crock Pot makes an oval big on but the top does not secure for travel either.
Would that (the H-B) be a good choice? I know you favor the rice cookers but we entertain a good bit and most of them are small in size; and, single use whereas the slow cookers have many uses and we could give the old on to one of our kids.
I thought about the nesco roaster oven but its too big for anything but Easter or Christmas.
The basic cheap model will work, but not the programmable version.
